Arte/Cultura Baile Folklorico De Ecuador

Pasacalle

Guadalupe Pineda has a voice of an angel. Played On Our Internet Radio Station.

The particular album shown here, "Enamorarse Asi", by this Mexican beauty is a favorite.

It has classic ballads sung to perfection such as "El Dia Que Me Quieres" - Highly Recommended.

Salsa Recipe

Empanadas Fritas Con Queso

Masa:

Salen 16.

Movie Reviews

Mango Tomato Salsa

This is a tangy, fruity and refreshing salsa that goes well with fish, chicken and pork.

Ingredients:

2 small mangoes, diced

2 plum tomatoes, seeded and diced

1/2 cup sweet onion

1 jalapeno pepper

1/3 cup chopped cilantro

Juice of 1 lime

Preparation:

Combine chopped mangoes, tomatoes, onion, jalapeno and cilantro in a medium bowl. Squeeze two halves of a small lime over the bowl. Season to taste with salt and pepper. If the salsa ends up being a little too hot or acidic for your taste, you can temper it by adding some diced avocado.

Toss and allow to stand until ready to serve.

Serves 6.

Mad Money
This movie is about three women who develop a plan to rob one of the most secure banks in the world. Its appeal is mainly in seeing how the plan is carried out and on how the friendship of the women grows.

The light hearted, comedy is well acted by the very apealing performances of Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah and Katie Holmes. Similarly appealing roles by Roger R. Cross and Adam Rothenberg (of "Cheers").

I give it 3 1/2 out of 5 stars.

Juno
Facing an unplanned pregnancy, teenage Juno (Ellen Page) devises a plan to locate the proverbial perfect parents to adopt her baby. Jennifer Garner plays as a prospective parent.

This offbeat comedy won the 2008 Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.
The movie was surprisingly very good. Ellen Page is great as the pregnant teen, with her quirky sense of humor.

The entire cast acting is very good with mostly believable if not enjoyable performances.

I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes on PBS
Originally shown on Britsh television, it is now showing on PBS stations. It's a must see for lovers of mysteries and of course, Sherlock Holmes. Originally shown in the 1983-1994 series, it is a refreshing, intelectual delight, especially with so many "mindless" alternatives on TV.

Considered the definitive depiction of the fictional character, Sherlock Holmes, as portrayed by the late Jeremy Brett. His depiction of this famous character is very different from the famous and also excellent portrayal by Basil Rathbone in the late 50's movies.

Jeremy Brett portrayal is closer to the depiction in the original book. Sherlock Holmes does not come accross as charming or even likable.

However, keep watching and you will be thrilled at his genius on solving difficult crimes. This character is deeply flawed, having little patience or talent for social skills but is admired for his great powers of deductive reasoning.
